If that was a real movie, it would be the first (and probably only) adaptation that was true to a game.

yeah... I found out it was only a joke... it is because fools day doesn't exist in my country...
but I've realized it is very common in USA... and they prepare very elaborated jokes...

I apologize on behalf of the US.
The fan community needs to get up and out there and make these films a reality.

I actually recognized a lot of those monsters, despite never having played any Zelda games since Link's Awakening DX (the last good one ever made).

it was a very elaborated joke...
about the enemies... well.. every game has its own enemies... I mean, once you play a game, and you play a sequel, it's very probably you'll face similar enemies to the ones you've encountered...
in some cases, the enemies, also make unique a game... like Goombas... like Metroids...

It'll never happen, unless maybe Nintendo gets sold, if you can imagine that. Otherwise, the lesson from the Super Mario Bros movie will stick.

I thought the SMB movie was alright. Of course, it was geared towards kids, too. I'm sure if it was geared more towards adults it would've done better (with a bigger budget in hand, most definitely). The only problem I had with the movie is that they used a human actor to portray Bowser, as if he was a humanoid in the games. That's what was most disappointing.
On the subject, though, I thought the trailor was amazing. Agreed, it's a shame it's only a joke (April 1st, 2009 gave it away for sure), but if that was how the movie was really made, I'd pay $10 US to go see that.
Likewise, I'd pay for a $100 US ticket to go see a 30-minute screening of a Valis anime. Of course, that's expecting Valis X-quality artwork or better with the older-style Valis feel to it (think Valis I or III for the Genesis without pixels and with solid lines). ^^;

Their "Link" looks nothing like today's Twilight Princess Link (which would have been the bast, if not for the awful ending that made me want to hang my self...) Looked more like the oooold Link....And I probably dislike that because I was introduced to the series through Ocarina of Time(which would have been the best if not for the Water Temple...XD) Someone on youtube said that actor looks like Michael Jackson....Creeepy, yes, but no MJ. Besides the Link, the rest is amazing. I'm caught between believing that an "unkown" or not big time actor should do link, or Orlando Bloom. Imean, Legolas is almost a carbon copy...XD...I XD too much.... ...... XD!

You're right.... I guess they don't have lot of imagination to create a New Elf-look-like- Hero.... I think Legend of Zelda is a great series-... and has enough fame already for a movie... fans won't expect nothing original or new... just the old recipe... a Noble Hero saving the Princess... I wouldn't complain!!!!

My personal favorite game is Twilight Princess, and that's the one they should do. But that's my opinion. A lot of people would want Ocarina of Time, but that would be even longer...it'd be a series!

Even though, A Link To The Past was my fave, they should probably make the first game into a movie.
Don't get me wrong, I know everyone wants older, edgier Link but, I think people will crap their pants if anything (except those shit CD-i games) Zelda was adapted into a decent film.
And, if I see Orlando Bloom in another movie where he's got spandex and a sword...and elf ears...I'm gonna scream. That dude gets typecast a lot.

you're right... fans are waiting to see good adaptations from games to movies! I mean, lots of adaptations are on their way, Halo for example... why not giving a try to Zelda???
I also agree with you at the fact we always see the same actor doing the same type of roles...

That's the one thing Hollywood fails to do with its adaptations: stick to the game. Throwing a game label and its characters != good adaptation when the story is WTF. Special effects are not the key to a good movie. Plot and character, however, are. Hollywood needs to see that if they want to make good adaptations and get their heads out of their asses on the idea that remaking a game into an adaptation will not draw interest. I'm sure a LOT of us would love to see Metal Gear reenacted as done in the games.

I agree! they think gamers are little kids who only watch movies as an extra... big majority of players are more mature, and we often expect the same game turned into a movie... there are excellent examples, like Silent Hill... that movie was a master piece... in the other side, we got Final Fantasy, Spirits Within...
mmm.... guess this should continue in games to movies topic...

YES. I recently saw Silent Hill and thought it was VERY well done. That's an example of the right director and the right screenwriter working together. The director, Christopher Gans, has stated that he's a fan of the games and wanted to replicate the feel and the atmosphere and it's narrative. Another thing I liked about it was that it stood on it's own as a movie. We're probably never going to see that EVER AGAIN.
If only Uwe Boll, Steven DeSousa and W. S. Anderson would sit down and take notes, maybe VG movies wouldn't be so bad.
