Wow, that's epic news. That anime promo has intrigued me since I first saw it a while back. So Reiko really was in love with Rogles after all... I had read that but wasn't sure as it isn't mentioned in the Genesis version. Maybe it's mentioned in the NES version? Never played the translation.

Finally translated eee

OMG!! happy eyes

"Everything was caused by the power of Valis"

Wait... WHAT!!! Shocked

Now this is exciting, thrilling and more confusing than before happy eyes what's the true nature of Valis?

- Yuko of Valis 1 was summoned by Valis, she was enpowered by Valis, and Valis wants Yuko of Valis 1 to defeat Rogles.

- On the other hand, Reiko was probably summoned by her Valis counter-part sword, enpowered her, and wants her to defeat Valia!

- Valia protects Valis, Rogles protects Valis counterpart sword!

All this lead to one ending = Both of Valia and Rogles are evil, each wants to conquer the other! And that's actually the plot in the NES version!! You can even notice that Valia is the secret final boss in the Famicom version.

Of course, this plot was only for the famicom version, in the Genesis version it was alternated and Valia is a good character there Smile Valis II plot was based on the Genesis version

I find it rather interesting that Valia could be consiterd a good/evil character. She wants peace for HER people but going as far as having Rogles Megas & Glames and their followers killed. Valia could be consiterd a partial dictator, she wants it all for her people but not for everyone else. It makes Megas victory over Valia much more sweeter evil .

I want to first thank Valna/Valis77 for subtitling the Valis promo!

I've yet to play the Valis+ on my NES emulator, so I don't know myself.
I do know in th Genesis version that the "story" in the instruction book says, "What would you think if your best friend went on a date with the King of the Dark World; and, she did it because she thought he was cute!?" However, there is no mention in the Genesis version cinematics about Reiko being interested in Roglas. I don't know if she mentions about any interest in him in the PCE version though, since I (unfortunately) don't know Japanese.

Actually, Valis 2 for the PCE/Turbo Duo came out before Valis 1 for the Mega Drive/Genesis (the PCE version, believe it or not, came out AFTER the Mega Drive/Genesis versions. In other words, the Mega Drive/Genesis and PCE versions of Valis 1 is actually based on the PCE/Turbo Duo version of Valis 2. The MSX/PC88/X68K versions of Valis 1 are similar in story to the console versions, but the Japanese computer Valis 2 storyline is far different than the console counterpart (Megas certainly seemed far eviler in the computer versions than the console).

Hmm...well, it could be argued that Valia was just looking after more for the welfare of her own people (i.e. the Dreamlanders) and less about Dark Worldeans. Which would beg the question: would she allow the Dark Worldean survivors come to the Dream World, or would she leave them to their fate if she were still alive?

That's a very good question wink ! I think Valia would be the kind of person who would put the welfare of her people above all else and leave the people of Vecanti (Dark Worlders) to be left to their fate. Now to think of it Valia could be a villian and Yuko her "left in the dark" minion. I mean all that Glames wanted was to evacuate Dark World and preserve his people way of life. Who knows maybe Glames asked Valia if his people could live on Dream World and Valia laughed at him and said "You and your people fates are already desighted". Maybe it was Valia who started the war of Valis. If you look at it after Megas killed Valia Glames plains could finally begain and the future of Vecanti could be preserved and invation was the only answer... Who knows what if Rogles, Megas, or Glames got to Yuko of Valis 1 frist and made her join their cause? So when you look at Valia used Yuko of Valis 1 to murder the rulers of Vecanti just so her people could flourish and leave the poeple of Vecanti to face a very horrible death.

Well shadesofbluee responded to my comment on that video about Reiko being in love with Rogles:

Quote :
When they made the promo, the the animators may not have been fully aware of the character relations. And the last line before it flickers is somewhat embellished, based on what is said in the previous line. In the previous line her literal translation is 'Rogles is MY everything!'. The next line was worded oddly and did not make mention of Reiko wanting to be with Rogles, but I thought it worked nicely with the previous line. also, a better worded and more accurate translation of the line "If I don't defeat you, I can never be with him!!" is "You'll never defeat him, if you can't defeat ME!!". I had to listen to it a few times in my head to piece it together properly. Because the way it is said is nothing short of a mess, at least to my ears, the wording goes something like this "(if) I defeat (you), Rogles is unbeatable!"

The first line still sounds like she could be in love with him, just a lot less obvious now that he corrected his translation.

SuperSailor7, that's alot helpful/useful info you just contributed Smile

If we can get our hands on the translation of the PCE version, we would be know more accurate details about the plot chu
