| I remember a year or so ago I came across a really good Valis forum and then one day it was gone. Then tonight I came across this place and didn't hesitate for a second to sign up!!!
I love the Valis games and older games in general. Same with anime... it just seems to me like the character designs and artwork were better back in the day.
I was browsing the posts here and it looks like you have a good community going. I hope to be a part of it. Well, it's pretty late so I gotta catch some sleep before work.

| From the shadows of the beef, welcome! It is always a pleasure to see another join this place.
I also favor the older anime designs over the current generation of anime design. The same can be said for gaming. My take on this is due to lacking the tech to add awesome effects, artists made up for it with simple-yet-appealing designs that can really stick to one's memories. Things today try to WOW people too much with special effects and details (realism as well, for gaming) that it simply overwhelms the senses while losing the feeling of depth that integrates people with the characters and stories.
Oh how the past was such a bliss...

I agree. Many of nowadays-games are focusing on effects, but they lost that "soul"-feeling of the game BTW, just 2 days ago, I knew my fav & best NES game's title! (when I was kid, I didn't know english ). Anyway, it's called as.. I finished this game when I was a kid tenths of time. it really has that "soul" thingy, you really can "feel" the game and just yesterday I played it on NES emulator and finished it sooooooo exciting just looking at the first-stage force me to play it again and again

| Just wanted to say welcome to this forum! Also, I really think your avy is cool (Goddess Sabrina from the Sega/Mega CD game Dark Wizard, right? I loved that game! (Although Krystal's my fave character in that game)). Anyway, I am Ianna, old school/obscure/import game fan. I hope you enjoy your stay! | |

just looking at the first-stage force me to play it again and again I had that game as a kid too. XD I loved it to death. I think I have the ROM on my computer, I just don't play it often in favor of games I still haven't played yet. Excellent, underrated game. The sad thing is that the game, like many games of its time, was vastly altered from its Japanese counterpart. The great thing is that both stories are good and it didn't mess with the graphics much. I'd recommend finding a Japanese version of the game for emulator if you can and playing through it. ^_^

Anyway, I am Ianna, old school/obscure/import game fan. I hope you enjoy your stay! WOW!!! I must say that I am impressed!!! You certainly know your games! Yes, it is Sabrina... Few people seem to know about Dark Wizard, but it's one of my favorite games ever made. I love the game, I love the music and I LOVE the old school character designs and animation!

Oh how the past was such a bliss... Yeah, it seemed like back in the day companies, rather it be games or anime, really poured their heart and soul into what they did. It always seemed that they had such a passion for their product. These days it seems all about making the most cash and the creators don't care about what they deliver to the consumer as long as it sells. Certainly there are some exeptions here and there, but for the most part this is what it seems like to me.
