That's neat and it also mentions the famicom version of Valis. I've watched the Valis Famicom version on YouTube, the music was pretty good for a 8-bit game.

Hey... I just noticed something. Where are the fanarts ? I like pretty girls too, but come on... the man went to battle against his own son... he's huge... and he can walk on SPIKES. SPIKES! You know that's epic.

Not to sound snobish or rude, but there is a reason as to why there are more fanarts of than . And it's rather simple. Make that a few reasons but one is more major.

One, was the first main character and appeared in every single Valis game. Playable in all except the IV games, but still appeared in them regardless. (Is playable as an alternate color in Super Valis IV, so virtually only ONE game she wasn't playable.)

First appeared in Valis II, BUT did she really do anything in it? Not really. She was considered just the next in line for the throne in one of the versions of Valis 2. While in the other version that's canon, she's Yuko's sister, and some fans were probably like "Wow, ain't she the lucky one." Not that I'm against her but hear me out of how the situation went.

Yuko, was sent to the human world, lived a human life up to a certain point. She winds up getting forced on a venture to save the world, killing her friend in the process. Afterwards she gets hunted cause Rogles' forces wanted her sword so they aren't slaughtered by Megas. That's three problems she's had to deal with. She meets Valna after their mother is killed and Valna doesn't virtually does diddly. The only thing she did helpful in some ways was Yuko's new armor. Who promplty ditched it at the end of Valis 2.

Essentially the meeting of the two sisters went like this.

"Wha...you...you're my sister?"

"I feel sort of the same way. But since I'm the princess, I'll stay here and rule, take this armor and slay Megas like a good little sister."

"WHAT!?!?! We just met and you don't even want to try and relate?!?!?!"

"Nope. I'm more worried about the kingdom than anymore family relations."

"......if I make is through this I'm soooo gonna bean you."

Probably a tad exagerated, but probably close to how some gamers felt after those two met.

Valis 3 roles around, Yuko still lived her life like a normal human, despite all she's been through, while Valna sits happily on her mother's throne until Glames rolls around. And she doesn't even do anything until either Yuko or Cham saves her royal butt. True she promtly gets payback on the one who captured her, but it didn't exactly boost her popularity none. And when the attack bar isn't at it's fullest and has the speed booster, she's essentially useless as her attack does very little damage. Also the fact she comes off as a mage character probably didn't exactly help much as mages are very hard to actually use affectively. Like in RPGs and Action RPGs. Not exactly a highly favored class in a platformer.

Also the fact that she's fully captured in Valis IV, only furthered trouble.

I'm not saying she's a bad character, but I'm just saying she has a lot against her in terms of fandom and who they favor more. As things clearly stand from the fanarts and such, most perfer Yuko and Cham, which only further proves that they hardly touched Valna.(If you're thinking of the other touch, shame on you. )

Just something I figured best be put into proper perspective. Valna isn't exactly the most favored character in the Valis series for various reasons. Not saying I share these reasons, but they are quite apparent.

So, as much as you yourself like Valna Valis77, it ain't exactly gonna change everyone elses views. And saying we need more Valna fanart ain't gonna change it much either. All the artists favor Yuko, Reiko, and Cham cause they're the ones you see right away. Valna barely gets much mention at all. Doesn't appear in Valis 1, not even a hint yet.(Course she wasn't thought up yet.) Yuko and Reiko are seen in the openings of both versions of Valis 1 and 2, and Reiko even saves Yuko in a version of Valis 2.

Cham appears in the very intro and opening stage of Valis 3, and quickly becomes playable. So, she's favored more than Valna, and also she's like a Belmont sort of. At least someone on another site compared her to Simon Belmont. Understandable, she shares almost the same coloring, and the fact she uses a whip that gets stronger, and also uses items in Castlevania fashion sort of.(I.E. hold up then attack.)

Valna doesn't become playable until a few stages later, and if you die on the boss with her, VERY hard time with just one punny little magic ball.

Those are the more official reasons as to why there are more fanarts of Yuko, Reiko, and Cham, and very few Valna. As likely gamers didn't have to fond of memories with her. Just what I can gather and put into perspective.

In regards to , not very many people have played Valis IV. Not sure as to why he isn't drawn, but then again, his look is a tad complicated to replicte without him looking like a mess. Not an easy look to replicate.

Very true. I just realized for the first time reading Lord Adrian's post that I haven't seen any fanarts of him. A shame not many are familiar with Valis IV too

actually i was not comparing her to yuko,but to other characteres >_> theres no excuse to not have her just be a little fanbase,because she is important to the story as well why else have her there. Me loving not liking Valna is not the issue here. Example there are other games that have minor characters that are there for no apperent reason but the fanbase is big. So im not complaning or demand "I ASK" Just for the record "Your Wrong" it changed peoples view on how much i like valna otherwise they would not do it for me or anyone else. You havnt been in this board long enough to see the diffrence when i asked for a pic i got like 5 or 6 diffrent pics of her from diffrent people on the net ,you need to get out more . The problem is that they should put more effort on her as well not to much as a random relative;

I mean she was there from Valis II to IV. Valna she was....on a throne getting kidnapped.......thats cliche oooook i see where this would make since now. Cham deserves more fanbase as well im not just a Valna lover i love other characters like amu again no know about her because she was only in the valis 4 the japanese version so she has a little to no fanbase the Valna and Lena. But this changes nothing. Bottom line there are more fanbase arts i just havnt found them...Thats telenets' fault for dropping the ball in general i mean they could have done betterits a overlooked game after all so who cares right? ^_^

Actually lots of Valis characters are underrated

If we try to make a top-list by gathering fans opinions, final result may come like this:

1. comes first
2. come almost equivalently second + Sword of Valis itself if we consider it as a character come also second LOL
3. Other allies (like Nizetti etc) and Final bosses ( ) come third
4. Main Generals (like and Heizen) and Non-combat Generals (like Leigh the fortune-teller of Glames) go fourth
5. Sub-bosses
6. common enemies go last

Characters on number 3 and 4 are quite lovable and fan-able, but in the game there are so many characters, alot to tell about the story itself (in each game), and little cutscenes to display = because of that, these characters got less roles

If you played Valis II (X68000 English version), you will notice that the story main focus is about vs . based on their roles of Valis II X68000 story:

1. come first
2. comes second
3. Generals (including non-combat generals) and allies come third
4. Sub-bosses come fourth

Valia got really fan-lized in Valis II X68000 (and personally, I favourite alot she's my second favourite character ), the designers/programmers thought that she can't just die and disappear if we're going to make Valis 3, so we should prepare: either revive her (and make her a returning character) or make a character that looks very much like her, which their choice was the 2nd option and resulted in the appearance of

If Telenet could break the rule of "he/she is dead but we can still use this character in the next sequal", Valis 3 main playable heroines would be ... isn't it?

Besides megaman Valna as a playable character is for advance players and her attack has a great advantage in the game sure there are times where i'll never use her because some points she has a disadvantage,i mean did you see my stream of this game? if not then this is the reason you dont pick her at all. Hence you stated making her not highly favored. You are not utilizing her abilities at the fullest. This is just me,but i find that insulting, i use all of them evenly but i use valna more because im advance in playing her. i seen no one in YT would as her all the time again, that pisses me off but then again we all cant like the same things.

So interesting you should mention that! I was working on my French translation of Valis 1 lately and just noticed that yesterday for the first time!

Also, I never saw Cham as a substitute for Reiko before, but that's very possible.

Hmmm, same race? Seems a bit of a stretch.

Let's take a closer look.



If you'll note, Cham has long pointed ears like an elf. Do you see that on the enemy sprite? You can't say it's hidden by her hair. Look at Deedlit, or any other elf or elf-like being, most have long hair and the ears clearly stick out of it.

But of course, that doesn't change the fact it probably inspired Cham's creation. Just saying them being the same race is a tad of a stretch.

And I never really saw Cham as a replacement to Reiko before. Mostly cause subtitues often bear resemblances and characteristics of the one they replace.

is clearly 's replacement. I mean look at them, same haircolor, style, similar robes. Clearly takes after her mother more than does. But that doesn't mean she didn't outclass everyone when she became a goddess.

But, I can take the substitute a step further.

is obviously 's substitue, no ifs ands or buts about it. Is 's replacement, if we were to compare attack's length to 's whip length, I'm sure we'll see they are almost identical.

is a bit of a stretch, but clearly is the subtitute for . He uses a staff, and is technically of royalty. But the differences end there as he's an easier powerhouse and moves fairly quick for just what looks like a walk. Might have been easier if he thrust the spear forward simialr to his duck animation, but otherwise he has no real strike against him. He clearly saved and and stayed with them to settle matters with his son fairly personally.
