| My Valis panel got accepted for Anime Nebraskon this year! =D So it's up to me to make sure the girls get all the proper respect! Right now, my Valis collection is somewhat limited. I've got some art, the three Genesis/Mega Drive games, and a lot of knowledge on the series stored in my brain, but I'm going to want as much material to work with. If anyone could zip and/or torrent their Valis art collections, videos, and more, I'd really appreciate it. The more material I have to work with, the better. And if there's anything you guys would like me to include in the panel, feel free to suggest it here. :3 If you'd like information on how to attend the con, please visit http://www.animenebraskon.com/ for all the information. | |

| I was wondering what sort of artwork you needed, since I've got scans of instruction books, cover art, as well as cinematics that I've found on the web. I don't know what other artwork you are searching for, but I do have several Valis art-stuffs. Sadly, I don't have any sort of videos or whatever, so I can't really help you there. | |

| Any kind of artwork will do. If I already have it, I can just delete any multiple copies. Fan-art (especially the rest of that Ghost guy's collection, since I can't seem to find a lot of the stuff he used to have on his site), official art, scans of various manuals and cover art (particularly the Syd of Valis manual's manga section and the Valis I Mega Drive cover), and any cinematics I can get ahold of. If someone has a working YouTube downloader, I'd like to try and get videos of Reiko's death scene in Valis I, Valia's death scene in Valis II (x68k version), and the section in Valis III where Nizetti releases the full power of Valis. I do have some of the artwork I'd like to have, but doubles don't hurt. I'm just kinda listing what I feel I need for the panel.
If you can impart anything that'll help, Ianna, it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to make sure everything's together by the end of the month so that I'll have a week to ensure everything's in place and ready to fire off the moment the panel starts.
Also, while doing some research on magical girls in the first place, it would appear as if our beautiful soldiers weren't the first magical girls to exist. They date back as far as the 1960s. However, I don't think they really took off until after Valis was released, so that makes my panel name slightly misleading. ^^; Even so, my focus is going to be to show just how great Valis is and how much of an impact it's made on the magical girl genre overall.
If I can't get everyone to leave my panel worshipping the Blue Goddess and her comrades as we do, I feel my efforts will have been in vain.

| Well, I don't really have anything to give, other than to say I hope your pannel works out ok. And that you don't get any weird, gay guys showing up at your pannel. They can be scary. I haven't met any, (Thank, God!) but I have seen them. Mostly by pictures I see while trying to find a certain images for certain female characters that I come acros these.
Tell me, do you think it's normal to see a guy, who's fat, and hairy, has a beard for crying out loud, dressed as Sailor Moon? Dear Lord! What is wrong with these people? To put it simpley, gay people, are the last people you want to meet. |

| I've heard and seen pictures of the infamous Sailor Bubba. Lol Apparently he's very cool, despite outward appearances. He's not gay, by the way. XD Ironically, gay otaku seem to tend to be the more open, honest, and nicer ones over their more flamboyant counterparts. I have yet to meet an honestly creepy gay/les/bi otaku, so I may've just lucked out. At any rate, thanks for the good luck. ^_^ Even if someone like Sailor Bubba or Man-Fay shows up, I'll be more than happy to show them that Yuko is much more awesome than either of their beloved characters. ^.~ | |

No, I don't. Especially not when my beloved Sailor Scouts are involved (I think it is ol' Bubba that you had in mind here, though! But I know what you mean.) - HeromanX wrote:

I, SuperSailor7, heartily DISagree Not looking to start a debate though. - HeromanX wrote:

To download any YouTube video in MP4 format, just go to the page on YouTube that has the video you want, then, insert a "22" in the page's URL between "youtube" and ".com." Press ENTER and you'll be transferred to a download page for the video you were watching. Just click the "Download" button and you will be able to download the file in MP4 format. If you have any problems with it just let me know. As an example, here are the download links using this method for the full story of Valis 2 (English version): http://www.youtube22.com/watch?v=5KLM5VAlpM8&feature=PlayList&p=80AB78703505FB0F&index=12http://www.youtube22.com/watch?v=BqiZSirnOgk&feature=PlayList&p=80AB78703505FB0F&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=13

| I've got most of the Valis-related pics I got together, HeromanX. I was just wondering where I could send the files to. Also, if you need any sort of informational stuff, I recommend on checking out the Valis Encyclopedia. It has some interesting informational bits there, including stuff they took out of Valis 3 and such. It is in Japanese though, so you would probably have to use a web browser translator to read it. Here are a few possible translator pages if you need any: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/http://translate.google.com/?hl=en#http://honyaku.nifty.com/ | |

| Thanks for the link, Ianna. ^_^ I got a few more pictures from it, but it's really hard to understand when just browsing around, even with the translator. Still, it's a decent resource for those who want to know more. Also, I probably won't be using much in the way of video clips. If anything, I'll do a run-through on an emulator and use save files to bring up the videos I want to show. Unfortunately, since it's not an 18+ panel, I can't show Varia's death scene through a video, but I can show the picture of Megas' hand through her body for the purposes I intended. Generally, all that's left to do is make a list of key points I want to touch on during the panel and it'll be ready. The panel's supposed to take place at 4:00 PM Central Time on Sunday, November 8th. However, this is subject to change between now and then. On a side note, I'm also hosting a Cult RPG Discussion panel at 3:00 AM on either Saturday or Sunday morning, I can't remember which. Lol This'll give me the opportunity to discuss other RPGs we love, like Ys, Exile, and more! If there's an RPG you'd like me to try out to discuss with everyone, let me know and I'll give it a go. | |

| I'm double posting because this is more of an update than an edit.
As of today, my Valis panel's been 100% confirmed for Sunday, November 8th at 3:00 PM US Central Time/GMT -0600. My Cult Video RPG Discussion is on Saturday, November 7th at the stroke of midnight US Central Time/GMT -0600. If anyone has anything they'd like to suggest for either of my panels, it'd be highly appreciated since these are the first two panels I'm actually hosting myself (I impromptu co-ran a Gaia Online panel at Otaku Omaha 2008 for a while before I was needed elsewhere, and that was my first actual experience).
Also, my con-chair has noticed that a few hits to the site came from this direction, so I just wanted to give anyone who's actually visited the NebrasKon site a big thank you for supporting the group and me. ^_^ Even if you don't necessarily attend this year, at least you're looking around and maybe you'll attend at some point in the future (a high recommendation considering this was my first convention back in 2006 and now a con I'm involved in for this year and next at the very least).

| Well, the panel didn't go as well as I'd hoped. =/ I've got a partial video I need to upload, but there were only two people who seemed interested that stayed through the whole thing. In addition, my computer didn't have the right port for a projector, meaning it was difficult to show pictures. I was also nervous and went through my usual circle statements and redundancy. I did manage to explain why Valis is so dark, though I kinda stumbled through it. Lol I'll probably get better at it as I do it more often, so I'll just keep working with it until I've got it down pat. ^^; Also - I need to play Valis IV. I think I totally butchered the explanation of Valis IV and need to go through it so I know what I'm talking about. Either way, I'd like to run the panel again at some point and I just need to polish and accustom myself to it. ^^; I don't think I horrendously butchered the panel, so I think I can definitely improve. On the upside, we may see a couple new members in the next few days. | |

Seriously, if you got even two people interested I think it was worth it.

Seriously, if you got even two people interested I think it was worth it. Indeed. These guys were part of OSFest, I think (the Omaha Science-Fiction Festival). If that's the case, then I could possibly run another panel at that convention next year assuming I don't go to SogenCon (which I might). Either way, I'm gonna try and submit the panel at any convention I end up attending. Hopefully through enough run-throughs, I can get it down pat and open up a whole new can of Bush's Baked Beans on the Valis scene.

| Sorry to hear the panel didn't go too well, but it sounded like you did get through it, which is what counts. And the fact that there were at least a couple of people there is certainly a good sign. ^_^
Anyways, as you said, such things take practice and such. I'm sure you'll do better. Plus, if you need help on info-gathering or whatever, I could see what I can do.
Otherwise, how did your other panel go (that is, the one on the RPGs)? Just curious. ^_^

| Thanks, Ianna. ^_^ While I didn't get to utilize the pictures you sent me as much as I wanted to, it also helped with organization so that I could figure something out. As for the RPG panel...ehhh...due to a mistake in the schedule, it didn't really happen. I played Diablo II for, like, five minutes before I became too disheartened to continue waiting for no one. =/ What basically happened was that while the panel was listed in descriptions and whatnot, it didn't appear on the visual schedule - the one most people run by. As a result, the "panel that doesn't exist" (aka the hentai panel (which was apparently executed poorly)) took the panel room I was supposed to be taking and I got a spare room. Ironically, it wouldn't have mattered - the dance was going on at the same time and there were soundproofing issues with the venue that we didn't expect before things were planned, so even if my panel had gone on, either I would've moved it out to the halls or people would've left after a while. Well, assuming I can make it to Naka-Kon in February, I'll drop another couple panels on 'em. That's in Kansas City, Missouri, so if I am running the Valis panel, I'd like to ask our glorious leader if he'd be willing to assist with running the panel. It's a great way to get yourself out there and help me break the ice, in addition to a sort of meet-up. | |
