| Just curious as to which one you'd rather see: - New Valis Games w/ All-New Characters - New Valis Games w/ Returning Characters - Remakes of Existing Valis Games I, personally, would rather see remakes of the existing Valis games with enhancements. I just think that the games could be so much better with some minor changes. For instance, I'd love to be able to retrieve my previous weapon power-up as you're able to do in Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, rather than be stuck with something that I picked up by accident. Obviously, there are plenty of other things that I'd like to see in Valis games, but that's one main thing that's always bothered me. Hell, that's why I have trouble playing older Castlevania games. | |

| Nice topic! In this one... I'm for a new game with the appearence of the old characters... It'll much better to see the characters we know in a new situation... maybe they could add the old Valis games with enhacements as a bonus in the new game... like when they created SNES "Mario all Stars"... - kevinski wrote:

| It's difficult to make a choice I would love to see any new game (except hentai ), whether it's a remake or totally a new game if I have to make a choice, I would choose a game with mixture of new characters and old characters, but since this option is not available, I will go with new characters | |

| Well if I had my way about it (And I usualy don't given the circumstances) I'd go for New Games with a bit of half and half, new characters but appearances from the original cast and such.
Also if I'm alowed to say it I'd also prefer a remake of the Original Games, Hentai Free and with as much detail to each individual story as possible.

| You know, come to think of it, I think that I'd rather see the first three Valis games redone in the same style as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. While a lot of people may feel as though the Metroid-vania style of games is getting to be a bit stale, I honestly feel as though it could flesh out the Valis world more effectively.
I mean, I'm kinda curious as to how the areas are laid out. As is, it just feels as though the developers added the stereotypical fire/forest/ice levels with no thought as to how they may be connected.

the game has been design in a way that is somehow similar to Megaman (if you can notice, it's the same idea, the boss that you defeat, you get his speciality). but you are right. If there was some kind of connection between these different stages, Valis would be really so much better.

| Subject: Mega Man Influence Thu 23 Aug 2007, 10:28 am | |
| I definitely noticed the Mega Man influence in the first game. The only problem with the series is that it was never really its own style of game. It changed drastically in terms of combat system with every new release from what I can tell.
Valis - Much like the Mega Man series, although you can't choose the order in which you fight the bosses. Also had some Castlevania influence, although for your primary weapon, as opposed to your secondary.
Valis II - Similar combat system, but abilities aren't as closely associated with actual boss characters that they're acquired from, making the overall effect feel a bit more uninspired and less thought-out.
Valis III - Kinda like the Castlevania series.
Valis IV - I've never played the PC Engine version, but I actually kinda liked the combat system in the SNES version. It lets you stock several different abilities, but you have to activate each one as you want to use it. It's nice, because it forces you to use them intelligently, since switching to another will eliminate the remaining stock on the one that you're currently using.
Still, I kinda wish that the developers of the Valis games had done like other developers who took the initiative to package world maps with their games. I always found this to be a bit pointless, especially with games that didn't feature an overworld. Still, it would've been nice to see where everything was in relation to other areas. I suppose that the Valis series is so ridiculously inconsistent that it wouldn't matter if fans simply created their own overworth of the various areas in order to tie them together.

Hmm...you know, I never really thought of that possibility. I've never played the MSX version of it, but it was definitely released before the original Mega Man. Did the MSX version feature the same type of combat system as the Genesis version? The NES version still predates Mega Man, but God...that game was horrible...

I think it'll be a waste playing it in Cube... maybe producers are waiting for christmas season to release a lot of new games... _________________ - Spoiler:

Dood, I totally fracking agree wholeheartedly. Otaku these days (such as myself) would eat that stuff up like... yeah. Valis has always been a series with a lot of untapped potential to me, and if only game developers would realize that. But it's not just Valis, though. I bet there are other franchises that just beg for a modern revival. Woe is the world of underrated gems...

| You're right ZeLoZ.... Lot of nice games have been buried.. and have lot of fans everywhere... Possibly, the big problem is companies are always arguing about money... if they create a new game, with old chars, some want all the money because they created the game.. and the others want all the money because they own the system... and we're not yet talking about exclusivities... _________________ - Spoiler:
